From Apathy To Action

"You are the community now, Be a Lamp for yourselves
Be your own Refuge. Seek for no other.
All things must pass. Strive on diligently.
Don't GIVE UP."
- Gautam Buddha

In the past few decades the rural community that comprises Aatapi's geographical focus has experienced a significant cultural shift in the sphere of livelihood, traditions and lifestyle.

The brunt of changing socio-cultural practices, growing consumerism, rising needs and aspirations, expenses that are disproportionate to incomes, alcoholism and gambling was visible on marginalized communities - small and marginal farmers, women (especially single women) and people with disabilities. The groups remained apathetic to their plight and did not pro-actively tap into available resources to improve their conditions.

Aatapi's efforts are focused on towards empowerment of such rural communities. Empowerment encompasses economic, social realignment of spaces and resources for all. Its interventions focus on creating sustainable livelihood options and accessing rights and entitlements of farmers, single women, children and persons with disabilities.
